Approximately 8.32pm Tasmania Police received multiple ‘000’ calls from concerned members of the public relating to a disturbance at the Kingston Plaza Shopping Complex.

Members of the public reported that two youths, armed with a hammer and a machete acting aggressively towards patrons and had assaulted a member of the public.

Multiple police units were quickly on the scene and approximately 9pm two youths were taken into custody for the matter and are presently assisting police with their inquiries.

Two members of the public injured during the incident and received treatment at the scene for non-life threatening injuries by Ambulance Tasmania.

Police thanked the members of the public who witnessed the incident and immediately rang ‘000’ as it resulted in the alleged offenders being quickly taken into custody.

Police are also calling for any members of the public who observed the incident, or the offenders in the vicinity to contact police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers.
