Youth charged over Blackmans Bay chemist armed robbery

A 15-year-old has been charged over a reported armed robbery in Blackmans Bay yesterday.

The youth allegedly entered the chemist in Bayview Market about 2:20pm and stole a quantity of prescription medication after threatening a staff member with a hammer.

No one was physically injured, but the victim was understandably shaken by the incident.

Police officers from Kingston responded immediately and the offender was located and arrested within 30 minutes.

The hammer and stolen property were also recovered.

The youth will appear in court today.
