Youth charged for allegedly assaulting police officers
A 16-year-old girl from Southern Tasmania, who allegedly assaulted three officers by kicking them and pulling their hair in the Hobart CBD on 14 June was arrested and charged with two further counts of assault police and bail offences on Monday.
It will be alleged that police attended a disturbance in Liverpool Street around 4:30pm, when the youth pushed an officer and later kicked another in the leg twice.
She was detained by police and appeared in the Hobart Youth Justice Division yesterday afternoon.
“Behaviour such as this won’t be tolerated by Tasmania Police,” said Inspector John Toohey.
“We will continue to target anti-social and criminal behaviour and where appropriate, necessary and authorised by law, we will be charging those who offend, and putting them before a Magistrate.”
The officers did not require medical treatment.
Anyone who witnesses illegal or anti-social behaviour should report it to police on 131 444, or triple-zero (000) in an emergency.
