Youth charged after producing a firearm in the Launceston CBD
A 16-year-old youth from Mayfield has been charged with attempted armed robbery and firearms offences after allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old youth in the Launceston CBD approximately 9.30pm on Saturday. During the altercation a pistol was allegedly produced.
The 17-year-old youth was taken to the Launceston General Hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries.
The alleged offender was located just before midday on Sunday in Ravenswood. A gel blaster pistol was located on him. The youth is currently assisting police with the investigation.
The youth has been charged and will appear in an afterhours court on Sunday evening.
