Youth charged after crimes in Launceston
Police have charged a 13-year-old youth with three offences in Launceston yesterday.
It is alleged that while armed with a knife:
- around 1pm in Newnham, the youth threatened another youth and stole property. The youth was not injured.
- around 6pm in a carpark in North Launceston, the youth threatened a man and attempted to steal his car. The man was not injured.
- around 6.15pm in Invermay, the youth threatened a woman in a parked vehicle. The woman was not injured.
Police arrested the youth in Invermay around 6.20pm.
The youth was charged with armed robbery, attempted aggravated carjacking, common assault and possessing a dangerous article (knife), and bailed to appear before the Youth Justice Court at a later date.
