At around 3:40pm today, police were notified of a serious motor vehicle crash on Table Cape Road at Wynyard.

The crash involved an ATV and two motorcycles. The rider of the ATV, a 64 year old Wynyard woman, died at the scene. The motorcycle riders, a 20 year old male, and a 21 year old male, both from the Circular Head area, were taken to the North West Regional Hospital Burnie with non-life threatening injuries.

All three vehicles were travelling north along Table Cape Road. Early indications suggest the two motorcycles had commenced overtaking the ATV, which then turned right into a driveway, straight across the path of the motorcycles, which collided at right angles with the ATV.

The two motorcycle riders were wearing helmets, however it is undetermined at this stage as to whether the ATV rider was. Police do not believe speed, alcohol or illicit drugs were factors in the crash.

Table Cape Road was closed for around 3 hours. The scene was attended by Ambulance Tasmania, Tasmania Fire Service and Police from Wynyard, Burnie Uniform, Forensic Services, Road and Public Order Services and Crash Investigation Services.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
