Wounding Salamanca Place
At approximately 12.30am on Sunday 14th December 2014, a 22 year old man victim, was walking with three friends (one man aged 23 and two women aged 18 & 22) on Salamanca Place near the front steps of the Supreme Court buildings. The victim and friends walked past another group of people, consisting of about 6 men and women, who appeared to be involved in some form of altercation near the steps of the Supreme Court.
The victim was approached by at least two men from the second group and was assaulted by them. During the assault the victim received what appeared to be a single stab wound to his abdomen.
The victim’s friends were also assaulted during the incident; two women from the other group were involved in committing this assault.
The offending group were seen to all walk off together towards St Davids Park.
Police and Ambulance attended. The victim was conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital and has undergone surgery for internal injuries. His condition is not considered life threatening.
The other victims did not require medical attention.
The suspects are described as:
- Man, 21-22 years, slim build, 170 cm tall, short shaved dark blonde or light brown hair, clean shaven, dark coloured hooded top, blue jeans, light coloured shoes and an Australian accent.
- Man, 21-22 years, heavy build 110 kg, 170 cm tall, short shaved black hair, clean shaven, black hooded top with motif on the front, dark runners and jeans.
- Woman, 18-19 years, slim build, 160 cm, bright coloured clothing and possibly a short dress.
