At approximately 12.15pm this afternoon a 25 year old man was involved in a workplace incident at his place of employment in New Town, during which he became trapped in a piece of machinery.

Police worked in conjunction with members of the Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Ambulance Service to free him. The man was operated on at the scene and was conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he is reportedly in a critical condition.

Workplace Standards were in attendance and will be conducting an investigation in relation to the incident.
