Tasmania Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 45 year old man this afternoon.

About 9:30 this morning, 3 December 2013, the man received injuries as the result of a workplace accident on a vessel off Butlers Beach, south Bruny Island.

The man was taken to Dover, where he was airlifted by the Police Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the Royal Hobart Hospital.  However the man died as a result of his injuries. 

Workplace Standards are also investigating.  Police are preparing a report for the Coroner.
