Woman disqualified after speeding at double the speed limit
Police have disqualified a 49 year old Port Sorell driver and seized her vehicle after she was detected speeding at double the legal limit through roadworks near Oatlands yesterday.
Oatlands Police detected a White Subaru Forester wagon travelling south at 120km/h within a designated 60km/h road works zone on the Midland Highway Oatlands, about 8pm last night.
The vehicle was intercepted and the driver was issued with an infringement notice for 6 demerit points, $1040 fine and 4 months disqualification.
The woman’s vehicle was also clamped for a period of 28 days.
Police would like to remind the public that speeding is one of the fatal five reasons towards serious or fatal crashes and all road users need to obey road rules, including when travelling through road works.
Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving should be reported immediately to police on 131444.
