Woman detected high range drink driving at Newnham
A 22-year-old P2 licence holder was intercepted driving by police in Newnham last night, and subsequently returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.319; six time above the legal limit for full licence holders.
Following information received from a concerned member of the public, police intercepted the woman around 6.10pm driving on Swan Street.
She has been disqualified from driving for a period of 12 months and will appear in Court at a later date.
Police urge all motorists to remember that driving with alcohol or drugs in your body increases your risk of killing or seriously injuring yourself or someone else in a crash.
Inexperience combined with high range drink driving could have had a devastating outcome.
Police will continue to proactively patrol the roads to ensure everyone is doing the right thing and ask anyone who witnesses dangerous driving behaviours to report to police on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
