A 38 year old Goodwood woman has been charged with trafficking methylamphetamine (ICE) worth up to $200,000 following an extensive police investigation.

Detective Acting Inspector Mathew Adams, of Southern Drug Investigation Services, said that the woman was charged following Operation Gault, which operated for the past three months.

A search warrant was executed by police at a Goodwood address yesterday, during which two shortened firearms were seized.

The woman was arrested and charged with:

• Trafficking in a controlled substance
• Posses a firearm when not the holder of a firearm licence
• Possess a shortened firearm
• Possess ammunition when not the holder of the appropriate firearms licence

The woman will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court this afternoon.

“Every ‘street deal’ seized by police counts. It’s one less ‘deal’ of illicit substance available to our families, friends and our community,” Acting Detective Inspector Mathew Adams said.

“Police not only work hard to seize illicit substances, they also work to disrupt syndicates and networks responsible for the distribution of them.”
