Woman assaulted during burglary in Launceston
Approximately 11am on Friday 12 June 2015 Tasmania Police attended an address in Rowland Crescent, Summerhill where a woman had been assaulted in her home after disturbing an intruder.
The 44 year old female victim was alerted to the presence of the offender when her dog barked inside the residence. The woman subsequently located an unknown man in her kitchen who was in the process of gathering property. The woman attempted to stop the man taking her property and was subsequently assaulted, causing her to fall to the ground and strike her head.
Prior to falling unconscious the woman managed to call for assistance. Tasmanian Ambulance Officers found the woman unconscious and conveyed her to the Launceston General Hospital for treatment.
Detectives from Launceston CIB wish to speak with members of the public who may have seen he male in the Rowland Street area wearing a black hoody, dark trousers possibly jeans, white shoes, a dark basesbal cap. He is also described as being 18-19 years old with a thin to medium build and sparse facial hair.
