Witnesses sought to driving behaviour
At approximately 3:08am on Tuesday 3 May 2011 police and emergency services responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on the Lyell Highway at Sorell Creek.
A small truck had left the roadway and travelled down an embankment, crashing through a fence and coming to rest against a tree in the yard of a private residence.
There were two male occupants at the time of the crash aged 18 and 15, both sustained head and leg injuries as a result of the crash and were treated by Ambulance Tasmania personnel at the scene prior to being transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital for further treatment. At no stage were the injuries considered life threatening.
The truck involved in the crash had earlier been reported as a stolen motor vehicle from Glenorchy and investigations are continuing in relation to the stealing. The occupants of the vehicle at the time of the crash are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Police are seeking the assistance of members of the public who may have observed a white Ford Econovan truck being driven in an erratic manner between 4:00pm on Monday 2 May 2011 and 3:00am on Tuesday 3 May 2011.
