Witnesses sought to Devonport crash
Tasmania Police are seeking witnesses to a two vehicle crash in Devonport on Friday 2 July at 11:18pm. The crash occurred at the intersection of Formby Road and Best Street, Devonport.
As a result of the crash a 46 year old woman from Port Sorell was conveyed by ambulance to the Mersey Hospital but was not detained. One of the drivers involved fled on foot and was apprehended by police a short distance from the scene.
Police have charged a 20 year old man from East Devonport with dangerous driving, exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit, unlicensed driving and leaving the scene of a crash.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw a silver Holden Calais driving at high speed in the area of William Street and Best Street at this time. They would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or saw a man running south along Formby Road after the crash.
