Tasmania Police is reminding members of the public to secure their vehicles.

In recent weeks car theft has still been an issue that concerns police in the Hobart and surrounding areas and unfortunately many of the vehicles stolen were unlocked or had keys left in the ignition.

Police wish to remind vehicle owners to take steps to protect their vehicles by parking in driveways or garages where available, or behind gates, and if left on the street try to find a well lit spot.

In addition owners of older vehicles should consider fitting immobilisers or steering locks where they can as these methods have been proven to assist in deterring thieves.
