Wanted New South Wales Pair Charged

Tasmania Police have arrested a wanted man and woman from New South Wales after a targeted operation on the north west coast yesterday.

A 30 year old man and a 31 year old woman both from New South Wales have been arrested following an incident on the Bass Highway between Heybridge and Don where a stolen Black Ford Falcon XR8 evaded police around 11am.

The couple are to appear in Devonport Magistrates Court sometime today.

Searches of the vehicle and a residential property in Rosebery led to the recovery of significant amounts of property including jewellery, passports, phones and drivers licences stolen in burglaries allegedly committed throughout New South Wales and Victoria.

Several minor matters occurring on the North West and West Coast of Tasmania are the subject of further investigation.

Police are seeking information and any witnesses to the Ford Falcon ute driving on the Bass Highway between Ulverstone and Devonport, Cutts Road and Forth Road, Don areas. Dash cam footage of the vehicle driving is particularly sought.
