Walker Injured – Kelly Basin

At approximately 6:30pm yesterday, 29 July 2015, a walking group from the University of Tasmania on a return walk from Kelly Basin to Macquarie Heads activated their EPIRB.

A 30 year old woman from Launceston, in their group, had fallen down a six meter embankment, injuring her ankle and shoulder.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was deployed however unable to attend due to poor weather conditions in the area.

A walking party of members of SES, Tasmania Ambulance Service, Land Search and Rescue, along with Police attended and extracted the injured walker, who was transported to hospital and treated for minor injuries.
