At 4.15pm on Wednesday 14^th January 2015 police attended Watcombe beach at Penguin regarding a vessel in distress approximately 600 metres from shore.

A catamaran had capsized in strong off-shore winds with two women and a man on board.

Members from a local surf life saving club were despatched to assist however the occupants were able to swim to shore without further incident or injury.

Police would like to remind people to carry the required safety equipment and to check local weather forecasts prior to conducting any water based activities.
