At 8:30pm, 4 May 2019 Tasmania Police were notified of a vessel aground on rocks approximately 1km off shore at Eddystone Point.  The vessel had issued a distress call with the vessell taking on water and breaking up in heavy seas.  On board was a 63 year old male and 67 year old female.  The vessel had struck the rocks whilst attempting to find shelter from the rough seas.

The Tasmania Police Westpac Rescue helicopter travelled to the area and  located the male and female on rocks near the stricken vessel.  They were winched to safety and flown to St Helens where they were treated for  minor injuries.
