Vehicle Hooning – East Devonport
On Saturday the 12 April 2014 Police attended North Caroline Street in response to calls from concerned residents in relation to hooning behaviour.
As a result police attended and clamped a vehicle being driven by an unaccompanied learner for the offence of ‘operating a vehicle in a public place in an exhibition of speed’. The clamp will remain in place for a period of 28 days.
This is the tenth vehicle clamped by Devonport Station this month. The majority of the vehicles clamped during this period were for the offence of ‘operating a vehicle in a public place in an exhibition of speed’, other vehicles have also been clamped as a result of drivers evading police, exceeding the speed limit by over 45km/h and driving whilst disqualified.
Some vehicles have been clamped until the conclusion of their court proceedings at which time Tasmania Police may make application for disposal of the vehicles.
Tasmania Police will have additional officers performing road safety operations over the Easter break and drivers are urged to drive safely and follow the road rules.
