Update on New Town Assault

Investigations into a serious assault at New Town as reported earlier today, Friday 21 October 2011, are continuing.

The Command Bus and investigators, including Detectives and Forensic Services, will remain at the crime scene to finalise examinations and witness accounts.

Three men have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.  They will appear at the next available out of hours court sitting.

The 35 year old victim is still in a critical condition.  Further advice will be forthcoming if his condition changes.

Police maintain that the men were known to each other and there is no further risk to the community arising out of this incident.
