Update – Man shot in leg in Kings Meadows
Launceston CIB continues to investigate the shooting of a 26-year-old Launceston man in Pinkard Street Kings Meadows on Friday 11 January.
Acting Det. Insp. John Parker said the victim was in the Launceston General Hospital in a stable condition after undergoing surgery to his right leg.
Acting Det Insp. Parker said that police were keen to speak with anyone who saw an older white Toyota Hilux dual cab and its occupants parked in Pinkard Street about 7.30pm.
“Our information at this point in time is that three male persons were all seated in that vehicle when a confrontation has occurred and the male driver of the vehicle was then shot at close range in the leg,” he said.
Acting Det. Insp Parker said that immediately after the shot was fired one man ran from the scene. He was described as being about 30 years of age, wearing a white T shirt and shorts.
Acting Det. Insp Parker said that another man left the area in a late model mid-sized white SUV. That vehicle was observed to travel up Pinkard Street towards Nunamina Avenue.
That person was described as having short light coloured hair and aged in his late 20s.
Police are seeking assistance to identify the people responsible, as well as any CCTV footage that may show the incident or the vehicle entering or departing Pinkard Street.
