Update – Home Invasion and Robbery – 11 Kay Street, Kings Meadows – Person charged
Launceston CIB continue to investigate a robbery that occurred at 11 Kay Street Kings Meadows at 7.10am Wednesday the 9th January 2019.
2 male offenders wearing balaclavas forced entry to those premises and assaulted and threatened the 23 year old female occupant. During the robbery petrol was poured over the female victim and her 2 year old son. Threats were made to harm and burn the premises down. A significant amount of money was stolen.
A 26 year old Devonport man has been arrested by Northern CIB and has been charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery and Assault.
Luke Jacob Brazendale appeared in an out of hours court at 8pm on Friday the 18th January 2019, and has been remanded in custody to appear again at 2.15pm on Monday the 21st January 2019.
Acting Det. Insp John Parker of Launceston CIB stated that police are still seeking information in a relation to another male offender. (video footage has been provided of offenders entering 11 Kay Street to commit the robbery)
Acting Insp Parker said that the offender they are still looking for is described as being of average build, and shorter than the first male depicted in the footage provided.
Acting Det. Insp Parker said that police were still looking for a 1998 faded red Toyota Corolla that was observed parked in Janet Street near Kay Street at the time of the robbery, and that was observed travelling on Southgate Drive Kings Meadows immediately after the robbery. Acting Det Insp Parker said that the shooting in Pinkard Street Kingsmeadows on Friday the 11th of January was linked to the robbery in Kay Street, however the 26 year old Nunamara man who was shot in that incident, has been mistakenly identified as being responsible for the Kay Street Robbery. Acting Det. Insp Parker said that person absolutely had no involvement in the Kay Street Robbery and is currently in a satisfactory condition in the Launceston General Hospital.
