Unlicensed Driver Detected at travelling 50km/h over the speed limit in Sorell

On Monday 21 July 2014 at approximately 10:20pm Sorell Police were on mobile patrol in the Midway Point area.

Police observed a vehicle travelling at high speed across the Tasman Highway Causeway from Midway Point towards Sorell.

The vehicle was detected travelling at 130km/h in a 80km/h zone.

It was intercepted and a 34 year old man from Sorell, who was driving whilst his licence was suspended, was taken into custody.

The driver was taken to Sorell Police Station and charged with traffic offences including exceeding the alcohol limit for a person mentioned in 6 (3), driving whilst licence was suspended, and speeding.

He was bailed to appear next month in the Hobart Magistrates Court.
