Two vehicle crash on Pipers River Road
A 17 year old Mount Direction woman was transported to the Launceston General Hospital in a stable condition after receiving facial and leg injuries during a two vehicle collision on Pipers River Road at about 10.50am on Monday 18 November 2013. The collision occurred on a windy stretch of road approximately 600 meters north of the intersection of Colgraves and Pipers River Road.
The young woman was the sole occupant of her vehicle. She was travelling in a northerly direction in her white Mitsubishi sedan when the crash occurred.
The young woman was trapped in her vehicle for approximately 1 hour, during which Emergency Services personnel utilised the 'Jaws of Life' equipment to free her.
The green Mitsubishi 4WD was being driven by a 63 year old Newnham man who did not receive any injuries. A 47 year old woman passenger in the 4WD was also taken to the Launceston General Hospital after complaining of neck and chest soreness.
George Town Police are investigating the incident and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who believes they have information that may assist police with their investigation.
