Two vehicle crash – Highland Lakes Road, Miena

At approximately 1240 p.m. on Saturday 11 November 2017, Police, Tas Fire and Tas Ambulance personnel attended the scene of a two vehicle crash on the Highland Lakes Road at ‘Tod’s Corner’ approximately 10km south of Miena in the Central Highlands. A white Toyota Rav 4 being driven south had collided head on with a silver Subaru sedan travelling north. Preliminary enquiries indicate that the Subaru sedan had been on the incorrect side of the road at the time of the collision. As a result of the crash the Subaru sedan caught fire and was completely destroyed. No one was injured as a result of the fire as the occupant had previously been assisted from the vehicle.

 

The three occupants of the vehicles involved were transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital by Ambulance with leg, chest and abdominal injuries. None of the injuries are described as life threatening.

 

Traffic flow was affected for approximately three hours as a result of the crash.

 

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing however speed, alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor.
