Two Vehicle Crash – East Derwent Highway – Herdsmans Cove

Police are investigating, a two vehicle crash which occurred on the East Derwent Highway, Herdsmans Cove at 2:20pm on 31st March 2015. The crash involved a motor vehicle and a small capacity motor bike, carrying a rider and pillion passenger, which was attempting to cross the highway.

The pillion passenger of the motor bike was taken to hospital with extensive leg injuries and is in a serious condition. The rider of the motorbike suffered minor injuries and the driver and three passengers of the vehicle were uninjured.

Tasmania Police and Tasmania Ambulance Service attended the scene and traffic remained flowing, diverted through the bus lane for approximately one and a half (1.5) hours.

Anyone travelling on the East Derwent Highway, Herdsmans Cove at the time of the crash and who may have witnessed the motorbike and vehicle involved is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Bridgewater Police Station on 6268 4103.
