Two people charged with serious fisheries offences

As a result of a joint investigation by Tasmania Police Marine Services and the Fisheries Compliance and Licensing Section of Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment, a 53 year old male from the Kingston area has been summonsed to appear in the Hobart Court of Petty Sessions in relation to number of fisheries related crimes and offences.

The charges relate to the alleged trafficking and illegal processing of large quantities of rock lobster and abalone.

As a result of the same investigation 68 year old female from Murdunna has also been summonsed to appear in the Hobart Court of Petty Sessions on charges of processing fish without a licence and possessing excess rock lobster and abalone.

They are both due to appear in court on the 22nd of June 2012.
