Tasmania Police has charged two people in relation to a number of burglaries in Swansea at the weekend.

Two chainsaws and about 100 litres of petrol were stolen from Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service and Sustainable Timber Tasmania vehicles, which were parked overnight on Saturday after being used in firefighting operations.

Police received reports of a number of other burglaries in the area, with a Swansea resident reportedly disturbing a male and a female at the scene of one incident.

Two men and a woman, all from Hobart, were arrested after police intercepted two vehicles containing stolen property.

One vehicle was located in Swansea on Sunday, the other was intercepted in Triabunna on Monday.

A 39 year old man has been charged with burglary and stealing offences, a 36 year old man has been charged with serious traffic offences and a 38 year old woman will be proceeded against for unlawful possession of property.

Police are yet to locate the two stolen chainsaws; a Stihl 044 and Stihl 046 and are still looking to identify the owner of some of the stolen property, including fishing gear, a mountain bike and hand tools.
