Two people charged after business burglaries in Northern Tasmania
Two people have been charged after a series of business burglaries in Northern Tasmania.
Police will allege a 31 year old Launceston man drove a vehicle to five businesses in Miena, Deloraine and Westbury between 10pm and 11.30pm on Thursday 22 August.
The passenger of the vehicle – a youth – allegedly entered each business, stealing cash, cigarettes, and alcohol.
Damage to the businesses has been estimated at $4000, with more than $800 worth of stock stolen during the four burglaries.
Police also allege the pair stole fuel from an Exeter business about 7.30pm on Thursday.
A 15-year-old youth was arrested Friday morning and has since been charged with four counts of burglary and five counts of stealing and bailed to appear in the Youth Justice Division of the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.
The 31-year-old Exeter man has also been charged with 4 burglaries and 5 stealings and was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in an out of hours hearing on Friday night. The man was bailed to reappear at a later date.
