Two Offenders Charged Out Of Incident Involving Injuries To Police Officer On Friday 8 November 2019

This media release is a supplementary media release – update to that issued yesterday relating to the stolen motor vehicle and Evade incident at Risdon Vale yesterday where the police officer was injured.

A 16 year old Gagebrook youth has been charged with Motor Vehicle Stealing (x2), Burglary and Stealing and Possession of Stolen Property. He appeared in an afterhours court last evening and has been remanded in custody to reappear at the Hobart Youth Justice Court on Monday 11 November 2019.

A 27 year old Newtown man has also been charged with the following offences relating to the incident yesterday: Motor Vehicle Stealing (x2), Unlawfully set fire to property, Aggravated Burglary and Stealing, Evade Police (Aggravated circumstances), Assault (Criminal Code), Resist Police, Drive Whilst Disqualified, Use a Controlled Drug and Being Found prepared for the Commission of a Crime. He is expected to appear in an out of hours court this evening.

The male police officer who was injured was treated at the Royal Hobart Hospital but was not admitted and released yesterday afternoon.
