TWO MEN APPREHENDED RICHMOND
At approximately 4pm on Thursday 2 July two men were observed in Evandale in a stolen motor vehicle. Approximately 1 hour later police observed the same vehicle travelling south on the Midland Highway near Oatlands.
A number of police units were involved in an attempt to contain the vehicle. The vehicle was followed onto Mudwalls Road where an attempt to intercept was made. The vehicle did not stop and also avoided road spikes that had been deployed.
The vehicle was again observed by police near Colebrook and the Westpac Search and Rescue Helicopter was activated to assist ground units. The Helicopter was able to track the stolen vehicle and ground units successfully deployed road spikes at the intersection of Richmond Rd and Grasstree Hill Road.
The stolen vehicle came to a stop a shortly afterwards and two males were arrested near the scene.
The vehicle was towed to a police compound where it was forensically examined. Cash, a firearm and other forensic material was seized by police.
Both men are currently still in custody as investigation are continuing into a number of crimes across the state.
