Two charged with arson
Bridgewater Police and Eastern District Detectives have charged two males with Arson following a house fire at Dilkara Place, Herdsman Cove, last night.
Police and Tasmania Fire Service were alerted to the fire at about 10 p.m. The rear of the house was engulfed by fire at that time but was soon extinguished by TFS personnel. It is estimated that repairs to the residence will amount to at least $30,000.
Bridgewater Police Uniform members searched the surrounding areas and located a 29 year-old-male and a 16-year-old youth and also seized a container which appeared to have contained petrol. The suspects were interviewed and subsequently charged with Arson.
Tasmania Police regards this type of behaviour as extremely serious and wishes to reassure local residents that perpetrators are vigorously pursued.
