Two charged over Elwick Road shooting

Two men aged, 18 and 20 years of age from greater Hobart, were charged late last night after extensive investigations by uniform police and Detectives from Glenorchy CIB following an incident in Elwick Road, Glenorchy, on 25th April 2012 in which a 17-year-old youth was shot in the upper body.

 "The arrests were the culmination of diligent investigative work by uniform police officers and Detectives from Glenorchy CIB," said Detective Acting Inspector Craig Joel.

The men were subject to interview by Detectives and later charged.

The youth is still in hospital undergoing treatment.

Acting Detective Inspector Joel thanked members of the Glenorchy community for coming forward with information which helped secure the arrest of the men.

The men were remanded in custody to appear in the Hobart Court of Petty Sessions on Friday 27 April 2012.
