Truck roll over, Port Sorell Road

On Saturday 21 April 2012 at 1450hrs police attended a truck roll over on Port Sorell Road at the intersection of Peirces Road, Wesley Vale.

A 39 year old man from Moriarty was driving the truck containing a full load of potatoes north on Peirces Road.  As the truck has approached the intersection with Port Sorell Road the driver has attempted to drop into a lower gear but failed to do so. 

The driver attempted to turn east into Port Sorell Road and as a result rolled the truck onto its passenger side.  The load of potatoes spilled onto the road way.

A crane was required to pull the truck and trailer with a combined weight of 53500 GVM onto its correct side and it was towed from the scene.  Port Sorell Road between the Airport round-about and Mill Road was closed to traffic for 5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.  A number of traffic diversions were put in place.

The driver and two young children who were in the truck at the time were transported to Hospital by Ambulance for assessment. No serious injuries have been reported.
