A truck has crashed near Corinna on Tasmania’s west coast.  The crash happened on the ‘Road to Nowhere’, also known as Norfolk Road or the Western Explorer, at about 1:00 pm on Tuesday.

A 32 year old Stanley man was driving down a steep section of the road when he lost control. The truck rolled and landed on its roof. The driver was briefly trapped, however he was quickly rescued by two men who brought him to Corinna.

The Tasmania Police Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to the west coast and brought the man to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The truck is blocking the road and in a precarious position, resulting in it being unsafe to remove this evening. The road will remain closed overnight and likely until Wednesday afternoon to enable further investigation into the crash and the safe removal of the truck.

The Norfolk Road will be closed between the intersections of Rebecca Road, Temma and Corinna Road, Corinna. Motorists are asked to obey the closure as the truck is in a hazardous position and there is significant debris on the road.
