Triple Zero Replacement for Tasmania Police & Tasmania Fire Service
A project to replace the outdated Triple Zero system infrastructure used by Tasmania’s emergency services is underway with Requests for Tenders to be opened this weekend.
While the current Triple Zero infrastructure, known as Telstra CustomNet or Spectrum, remains fully functioning, in line with Australian Competition and Consumer Commission legislative requirements it will be switched off nationally in April next year.
The copper technology has been in use by Tasmania Police, Tasmania Fire Service and Ambulance Tasmania for more than 25 years.
“The existing Triple Zero service is fully functioning and will continue to be so until a replacement system is implemented,” said DPFEM Deputy Secretary, Donna Adams.
“We are confident that there will be no disruption to services during the migration to the new infrastructure and the replacement solution will be thoroughly tested before the current system is switched-off.
“To ensure emergency dispatch services remain available while the systems are switched over, Tasmania Police, Tasmania Fire Service and Ambulance Tasmania will undergo a staged migration to the new system,” she said.
Request for Tenders under Tasmanian Government requirements will be advertised on the Tasmanian Government website and in The Mercury Newspaper on Saturday, 2 June 2018.
