Trevallyn speeding concern
Police are concerned at the number of motorists speeding on Trevallyn Road, Trevallyn.
A recent police operation detected a high number of vehicles exceeding the speed limit on this relatively narrow stretch of road, with the highest being 69 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
Adults and children regularly use the footpath alongside this road and many people cross the road to go the bus stop.
Despite numerous advertising campaigns and media releases motorists are continuing to speed.
“Exceeding the speed limit has been shown to greatly increase your chances of having a crash and increases the severity of injuries,” said Inspector Michael Johnston of the Northern District Traffic Office.
“Police remind motorists to comply with the speed limit and drive to the conditions.”
