Police are following a particular line of inquiry following a trespass incident on Wednesday where trees were removed from land in Buckland Road, Woodsdale, in south east Tasmania.
Police attended following a report from a member of the public of falling trees in the area.
Police intercepted two men travelling in a vehicle near Hobart later that day, who are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Police are also seeking information in relation to the alleged theft of a Reconyx trail camera and memory card which was attached to one of the trees for research purposes.
