Tree felling incident Menaire Road, Upper Stowport

Shortly before 2pm on Thursday 24 April 2014, Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania and the Tasmania Fire Service attended a private address in Menaire Road Upper Stowport, to a report of a man injured as a result of a tree felling accident.

The 35 year old man from Burnie was felling trees on private property, using light tree felling equipment. During that process a tree has fallen partially onto the cab of the excavator, trapping the man within the cab.

He was freed by the Tasmania Fire Service and transported to the North West Regional Hospital in a satisfactory condition. The man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Workplace standards attended and made an assessment of the scene.
