Traffic management for Bruny Island ferry at Kettering

Police are reminding drivers heading to Bruny Island on Boxing Day, and during the busy holiday period, that there are likely to be long queues and traffic congestion in Kettering.

The queue for the ferry has the potential to impact both local residents and businesses in Ferry Road.

From Friday 22 December until Monday 8 January, Department of State Growth contractors will be on standby to assist with traffic management between Channel Highway and Ferry Road, Kettering. Signage will also be in place to direct motorists through the area and to alert the community of expected delays.

Inspector David Wiss, from Kingston Police Station, said: “We ask drivers to be patient and courteous during this busy time, follow signage in the area, and obey the instructions of contractors assisting with traffic control.”

“To ensure everyone’s safety during the holiday period, police will also be patrolling the area. We want to make sure everyone has a safe and happy holiday period, and will be enforcing the traffic laws to make sure this happens.”
