Tourist rescued at Freycinet

At 1:30pm on Friday 7/11/14 Tasmania Police Search and Rescue were notified of an injured bushwalker on the Hazards Track, Freycinet Peninsula.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated and an Intensive Care Paramedic was winched from the helicopter to the scene.

The patient, a 60 year old woman from the ACT, had received a suspected broken ankle and was subsequently treated at the scene before being winched into the helicopter.

The helicopter then flew back to the rescue base before being conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital for further treatment.
