About 0600hrs today the Police Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated by Tasmania Police in relation to a 53 year old American woman who had broken her ankle whilst walking on Cradle Mountain.

The helicopter landed at an emergency ranger’s hut where the patient was treated by an intensive care paramedic. 

The woman was then flown to a hospital in Hobart in a stable condition.
