Three people charged after alleged police assaults

Three people have been charged following an incident at a Bridgewater last night.

 

About 10:15pm on Monday the 8th of February 2016 police responded to a complaint in Mayfield Crescent, Bridgewater. While dealing with the incident, it is alleged the police were attacked by two males, who were arrested at the scene.

 

One, a 36-year-old Bridgewater man has been charged with 3 counts of assaulting police and one count of injuring property; and an 18-year-old Bridgewater man was also charged with resisting police, using abusive language to police, obstructing police and assaulting a police officer.

 

Following that altercation, it is alleged a 36-year-old Bridgewater woman attempted to obstruct the seizure of a motor vehicle from the incident, and she was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of assaulting police, one count of resisting police, one count of using abusive language to police and one count of refusing to state her name and address.

 

Two police officers suffered injuries requiring treatment in hospital, although both have since been released.

 

The trio of alleged offenders will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
