Three charged following Eastlands disturbance

Police have charged three people in relation to a disturbance at Eastlands Shopping Centre complex about 6.30pm last night.

A 20-year-old woman from West Hobart has been charged with several offences including unlawfully possess dangerous article in a public place, common assault, and assault a police officer. She was detained to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court today.

A 19-year-old woman from Bellerive has been charged with several offences including common assault and assault a police officer. She was bailed to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court on 18 June

A 15-year-old teenager from Gagebrook has been charged with several offences including unlawfully possess dangerous article in a public place and common assault. They were bailed to appear before the Youth Justice Court at a later date.

Inspector Andrew Keane said police will not tolerate dangerous and antisocial behaviour in our community.

“Carrying dangerous articles and threatening and assaulting members of our community, including our emergency services personnel, is unacceptable,” he said.

“Everyone has the right to be safe in our community.”
