Third person charged in connection to Kings Meadows shooting
Launceston CIB have charged a third person as part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting of a 26-year-old Launceston man on Pinkard Street in Kings Meadows last Friday.
A 32-year-old Launceston man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11.30am this morning charged with:
- Causing Grievous Bodily Harm
- Aggravated Armed Robbery
- Possessing a Firearm in Contravention of a Prohibition Order
- Breaching a Family Violence Order (being in possession of a firearm)
- Drive Whilst Disqualified.
Detective Acting Inspector John Parker of Launceston CIB wished to thank the public for their assistance during this investigation which ultimately led to the arrest of the man early this morning. Detective Acting Inspector Parker wished to reiterate “that whilst this type of crime is rare, Tasmania Police treat any crime involving firearms as extremely serious, and will vigorously pursue those people who not only commit crime with firearms, but also those who possess firearms unlawfully”.
The arrest of the third person this morning, follows on from the arrest of a 29-year-old Swan Bay man who appeared in an out-of-hours Court last night where he was remanded in custody to appear again in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11.30am today.
A 23-year-old Kings Meadows woman was also charged with being an Accessory After the Fact to Causing Grievous Bodily Harm. She was bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 6 March 2019.
