A 15 year old male youth has appeared in the Launceston Magistrates court earlier today and has been remanded in custody following a serious assault at Mowbray on the evening of Sunday 19 August 2012.

The assault occurred at a private premises at about 6:30pm. 

The 30 year old male victim was struck once to the head, causing him to fall to the ground and further strike his head on the ground.  The victim has been treated at the Launceston General Hospital and transferred to Hobart.

Police would like to hear from any person who may have witnessed the incident to call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or the Launceston Police Station.
