Tasmania Police launches Launceston-based recruit course
Tasmania Police recruits will be able to complete their training in the north of the state for the first time ever, with a satellite recruitment course to kick off in Launceston in April 2022.
Assistant Commissioner Adrian Bodnar said it was an exciting opportunity for people in north and north-west Tasmania.
“We know that some people may be very keen to join Tasmania Police but have hesitations about moving to Hobart to complete the recruit course, due to family or other commitments,” he said.
“This pilot course will mean recruits from the north and north-west of Tasmania can complete their 31-week training in the north of the state, without moving to Hobart to train at the Rokeby Police Academy.”
“And once they complete their training, the northern-based recruits will be stationed in their home districts, so they won’t need to move across the state for the job.”
“This course will be delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face learning, including live-streamed lessons from the Rokeby Police Academy.”
“I’d encourage anyone who has ever considered becoming a police officer to get in touch with our recruitment team today.”
“You’ll be rewarded with a life-long career that’s full of excitement and opportunity, and you’ll get to make a significant contribution to your community along the way.”
