Tasmania Museum and Art Gallery Stealing
In October 2012, members from Southern CDI commenced an investigation in relation to the internal stealing of objects from the ‘Markree’ Collection from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. The collection was donated to the museum by the late Henry BALDWIN in 2008 and consisted of the contents of three houses. Investigations confirmed that a number of items, including watches, jewellery, historic photographs and Die – cast toys had been sold on Ebay throughout 2012.
On Monday the 18th of February 2013, a 41 year old male from Lindisfarne was formally charged with the stealing of those items from the Markree Collection. The male will appear in court in March.
